Adrenal Fatigue Causing Uterine Fibroids

Uterine fibroids is a very, very common conditionthat affects many females. Unbeknown to most, this process of fibroid formation actuallytakes years. In some women it grows fast, in some women it does not grow at all, andin some women it never happens. This is Lam, founder of DrLam , and we are goingto go through in this tutorial what the physiology behind fibroids is all about. First, let’s take a step back. In order forthe fibroid to grow, which is a tumor which is benign, is made of fibrous tissues, thebody has to activate many mechanisms to grow the fibroids. It starts off very small, likea pea size, and it grows to be as big as sometimes

an orange or a grapefruit in extreme cases. The common denominator for growing a fibroid is the hormone called estrogen. So if youhave excessive estrogen in the body either from absolute basis; such as you are takingtoo much estrogen from birth control pills or food that contains estrogen; on the relativebasis such as when you don’t have enough progesterone to offset the estrogen; or even if you havereceptor sites that are very sensitive, and this is very common in people who are skinnyand thin; all these can lead to estrogen dominance. On top of that estrogen, because it can matein the adipose tissue, so if you have a lot of fat tissues, or if you have stress in theadrenal system, they all contribute to estrogen

excess. Now estrogen excess will in turn then drivethe body into a state of estrogen dominance with symptoms that include fibrocystic breastdisease, endometriosis, irregular periods, heavy periods, a lot of ovulation pain, andfibroids. In extreme cases, it can be tied into cancer as well. So, fibroids, even thoughit is a benign tumor, tells the body that it has the underlying problem of estrogenimbalance. Now, aggressive measures to get rid of thefibroids is necessary if they are structural problems, but there are also natural waysto help the fibroids shrink, especially for

those that are nearing menopause. Understandingand recognizing that when the body is in adrenal fatigue the tendency to have a high estrogenload is critical because if you don’t understand this concept, estrogen dominance can be treatedas if it is a separate entity of excessive estrogen and women can be told to do whatwe call hysterectomy to get rid of the fibroid. Now oftentimes this can be useful, but oftentimesas well if the ultimate source of estrogen is not shut off or slowed down, even if youget rid of the ovarian estrogen source you still have estrogen source from food, theenvironment, the stress, as well as the adrenal disfunction then you are really not gettingrid of the total problem at the root level.

So it is important to recognize fibroids numberone as a medical issue, but number two also as an associated symptom for us to be on thealert when we dealing with adrenal fatigue because we do see many women who have fibroidswith their adrenal fatigue; and in fact it is very interesting because the estrogen loadstarts going down when the adrenals heal and then many people do report less symptoms ofestrogen dominance; including fibroids stop growing, or start to shrink as the adrenalimprove. So using this understanding to help us tounderstand fibroid physiology and association with adrenal fatigue is very important. NowI have an article on my website called ‘Estrogen

Dominance’ as well as another one called ‘Progesterone’that will be useful for you. If you are inquisitive I have a book called ‘Estrogen Dominance’that you can read as well, and of course my main book called ‘Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome’goes into this in great detail.
